Anybody's Guess

I got my clothes hanging on the line, I better run and get them quick
‘cause there’s a big black cloud rolling in
The weather man said it ain’t gonna happen, but I can smell it in the wind

I told myself I can’t run any more I got to hang myself out on that line
And let the water soak into my skin
If I keep my feet off the ground and my arms to the sky, I’ll be fine

Well, it’s gonna catch up to me
Like the moon chasing the sun and winter chasing the fall
It’s an opportunity
Ringing on the phone, I better answer the call
When the sun breaks through them clouds, what’s gonna happen is
Anybody’s guess

The prosecution comes on heavy, I have little-to-no defense
And I can forget about fooling the jury
The judge hammers the mallet that unleashes the fury

The verdict guilty and the sentence brutal, it was a blessing in disguise
Then the hail falls down with no restrain
Rips off every leave of that dogwood tree, but all the little white flowers remain

(repeat chorus)

Bridge:
All the evidence from the scene points to a single smoking gun
Says, “How can you expect to grow if you don’t
Dig in your roots and point yourself to the sun?”

(repeat chorus)
