Feather

Had a million little pebbles lyin’ in his hand
Threw each into the air not knowing where they would land
He sat with his back against the tree

Stones all landed in a perfect pile
The ants marched past in single file
And he picked at the fringe from the hole in his jeans

They all say, “Boy, what are you trying to find?
We just want to know what’s going through your mind.
Show us a sign.”
So he points to a feather floating in the wind

Tapped his foot at a steady pace
Sun lightened his hair and revealed the freckles on his face
And he looked to the clouds and saw fish swimming in the sky

A bumblebee landed on his thumb
He didn’t swat it away or even run
He just slowly lifted his hand up to his eye

(repeat chorus)

(repeat chorus)
