May Day in Court

Intro
F & M: All rise
Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth?
The whole truth and nothing but the truth
F: I do
Verse
M: Tell the jury why you’re here today
F: Well, I was framed for murder in the first degree
M: Remember you are under oath Miss May
F: Well I tell you once again that it wasn’t me
F & M: She had a pretty little face and her red hair’s in her eyes
She was showing just enough skin that it makes you want to search for the prize
M: That awful night a neighbor heard your man scream
F: Well, it wasn’t me, I didn’t do the crime
M: Why’d they find your pistol at the scene?
F: I don’t a gun, no it wasn’t mine
F & M: She’s a master in the art of deception
She’ll manipulate your mind for her own protection
The courtroom goes wild, the defense yells out, “Objection!”
Chorus
F & M: Order in the court, order in the court
Everybody please just settle down
Order in the court, order in the court
That’s enough I don’t wanna hear another sound
Sustained
Verse
M: Now what happened on the night of the fifth?
F: Well, I left my house at a quarter of eight
M: Where’d you go and who’d you meet up with?
F: I was dancing burlesque and working late
F & M: She met a girl and got some strange love on the side
She got the kind of loving that a man just can’t provide
M: I have a strange suspension you had a partner in crime
F: That’s news to me, I already told you the truth
M: Miss Loraine’s been your lover for some time
F: Now you’re digging up dirt for which you have no proof
F & M: She better walk light or she’s gonna break through the ice
She’s getting caught up in a lie and she’s gonna have to pay the price
The courtroom goes wild, the defense yells out, “Objection!”
(repeat chorus)
Sustained
Verse
M: You met up with Loraine after work that night
F: ‘cause my car broke down and I needed a ride
M: You used that Cadillac get out of site
F: Hey, look, buddy, I got nothin’ to hide
F & M: Her hands begin to tremble ‘cause she knows she losing the fight
Now she has the chance to do what she knows is right
M: Inside you know you were really jumping for joy
F: What, do you think that I’m some kind of machine?
M: You wanted his money, we can see your little ploy
F: You’re right, I’m wrong, and now I’m coming clean
F & M: She loses all control when the guilt comes crashing in
Tears are rolling from her eyes down to her chin
The courtroom goes wild, the defense yells out, “Objection!”
(repeat chorus)
Overruled
Outro
F & M: The sentence is in
Thirty to life
With no parole
